Celebration of Life & Legacy Reception for Martin Sticht
The neighborhood is invited to a reception and buffet lunch at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Palm House, honoring longtime community gardener Martin Sticht. Known as a humble and frugal gardener, Martin left behind an estate supporting parks, education, health, civil rights, and humanitarian causes, including the Fresh Air Fund, the Police Athletic League, and of course the Hoyt Street Community Garden. 51st Annual Atlantic Antic
Brooklyn's oldest and largest street festival returns for its 51st year, with a mile of food, crafts, and entertainment from Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue. Three new dedicated kids' areas will be added this year and the "Antic Sing" competition returns with a new “decades” theme. Vendor applications are open through September 22nd. FOFA is partnering with the Gowanus Canal Conservancy and the Gowanus BID Formation Effort on its next two events, this cleanup and City of Forest Day on October 3rd.
